Job Summary

The Machine / Production Operator is responsible for all aspects of the operation of their assigned process(es) including start-up, shutdown, product change over, process problem troubleshooting, and meeting production quality requirements.

The position requires the ability to work 12 hour (Continental) rotating shifts including night shift to support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year operation. There is a 2 weeks’ nights and 2 weeks’ days rotation. Upon successful completion of probationary period, employees are eligible to participate in the benefit program.

Job Description

  • Follow company procedures adhering to all health and safety standards. 
  • Operate plastic processing equipment including extruders, grinders, packaging lines, mixers and various auxiliary equipment as well as drive a forklift throughout the shift.
  • Perform quality testing in the laboratory of various samples.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stack 55 lb. bags on pallets
  • Ability to move 50 kilogram drums.
  • Ability to work in hot and occasionally dusty environment. (Respirator required in some areas of the facility - respirator requires tight seal around the face and therefore absence of facial hair).

Qualifications

  • Must possess a grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Forklift certification or have experience driving a forklift desired.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating equipment and troubleshooting.
  • Team player that contributes as well as takes direction in a fast-paced environment.
  • References will be requested.
  • Must pass a pre-employment medical examination.
  • Obtain a satisfactory background check.
