Purpose

This position provides engineering expertise in the design of custom automated production equipment, machines, assembly devices, test benches, jigs and fixtures to support manufacturing in achieving on time delivery of quality, cost effective products.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design, build and validate automated assembly equipment, production test benches and other custom production machines.
  • Work with the Design, Manufacturing and Quality Engineers to determine project plans, designs, program equipment requirements, builds, cost estimates; debug, calibrate and release equipment and/or associated process to production.
  • Prepare documentation for custom production equipment. This includes drawings, parts, lists, schematics, calibration procedures, maintenance plans and procedures.
  • Improve existing custom production equipment and production processes.
  • Troubleshoot problems with existing custom production equipment. Identify resolution and correct the problem. Utilize maintenance personnel as required.
  • Train production personnel on how to use new or modified production equipment.
  • Complete additional job duties and assignments up to 15% of the time.

Who are we looking for

We believe that the ideal candidate has the following qualifications and experiences:

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical or Automation Technologist Diploma Engineering Degree.
  • Certified LabView Developer designation or equivalent.

  • Knowledgeable with all aspects of custom equipment development & integration including mechanical design, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and sensor technologies.
  • Possess a strong mechanical aptitude for the mechanical design and assembly of custom equipment.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making abilities.
  • Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to manage a variety of tasks.
  • Expertise in the selection and integration of electrical controls.
  • Previous experience with Pro/E, GD&T and MRP Systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a strong team.

Deliverables

  • Produce project plans and cost estimates; finish projects on time and on budget.
  • Create equipment that meets requirements.
  • Be responsive to internal customers’ needs.
