DEPARTMENT: Outdoor Maintenance 

REPORTS TO: Lift Maintenance Manager

STATUS OF POSITION: Seasonal

Position Summary

Horseshoe Resort is actively recruiting for helpers/trainees to join our Lift Mechanic team in the Lift Mechanic Training Program.

This program consists of hands-on training on site while completing the Lift Mechanic License Program through the TSSA. 

The Lift Mechanic Trainees will report to the Lift Mechanic Manager and are responsible for maintaining on-site lifts, as well as various resort equipment and machinery.

The ideal candidate has a passion for mechanics and snow sports! The Ski Lift Mechanics must be able to work in inclement weather and be comfortable with heights. 

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all lifts are maintained to code, TSSA standards and manufacturer’s recommendations
  • Clean and prepare parts for overhaul and service
  • Rebuilding and assembly of minor components (dependent on skill and aptitude level
  • Assist w/rope shortenings, sheave assembly rebuilds and other major projects as required
  • Teardown, clean, lube and re-assemble grips and carrier components as part of the program
  • Opening and closing inspections of lifts and attractions
  • Assist in emergency situations
  • Report and rectify any unsafe situation
  • Keep a clean, organized and safe work environment
  • Perform all duties assigned by Lift Mechanic Manager

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Previous lift mechanic and electrical experience is an asset
  • SLM-B or SLM-A with ski industry experience is an asset
  • TSSA certified or mechanical training is an asset
  • Ability to work at excessive heights
  • Must be physically fit
  • Must have strong communication and listening skills
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to operate snowmobiles, ATV’s and 4X4 trucks in a safe and responsible manners
  • Must be willing to work all shifts including weekends, holidays and evenings as needed
  • Must be able to work in cold weather
