DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage

REPORTS TO: Director Hospitality Operations & Executive Chef

STATUS OF POSITION: Full Time

Position Summary

To oversee the daily floor activities and functions run smoothly and that guests are treated with respect, courtesy, and the highest quality of service. The Restaurant Manager will support all staff through organization, effective communication, work maintenance, and training while upholding the highest levels of standard. The Restaurant Manager will work closely with the Director of Hospitality Operations and Executive Chef to grow the overall business.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Daily tracker approvals and all labour/sales reports completed each morning, and continuously held within budgeted numbers
  • Complete daily comprehensive beverage inventory daily
  • Make sure all staff report to work at scheduled shift time
  • Schedule, organize and approve shift or schedule changes
  • Ensure all servers has appropriate standard uniform and footwear
  • Pre-shift meetings with staff, communication of upcoming and relevant information to staff members
  • Handle of all customer complaints or concerns
  • Ensure friendly, courteous and efficient service is extended to all guests
  • Hiring, training, supervising, developing, disciplining and counseling all food and beverage team members according to company policies and procedures
  • Assist in developing new staff orientation, provide initial on-the-job training with ongoing follow up to ensure service standards are met for the particular area.
  • Proper and professional handling of staff disciplinary action (progressive discipline)
  • All server opening and closing duties are complete prior to staff ending shifts
  • Proper management of daily breaks
  • Assists team whenever necessary, your presence on the floor during outlet hours of operation interacting with guests is a priority.
  • Ensure restaurant is set to appropriate standards and conditions during business operations (ie. cleanliness, music, stock of essential items, etc.)
  • All tables and chairs in restaurants are cleaned and dressed to operating standards
  • Develop daily and weekly cleaning schedules, follow up, and manage with staff
  • Management authorization of discounts, promos
  • Ensuring proper floats and cash change from cash office for service
  • Reporting and recording of daily maintenance issues (lights, fridges, floors and general repairs)
  • Proper signage, specials, and upcoming events are clearly written on boards in time for service
  • Assist in planning all promotions for restaurant including weekly live music
  • Participating in month end inventory counts of all food and beverage
  • Assist with the creation of annual departmental budgets
  • Ensures the well-being of our guests and team members by being proactive to avoid potential hazards, report hazards, follow up to ensure hazards have been eliminated.
    • Follows and ensures team is adhering to all appropriate regulations for Food Service, Safety & Sanitation, MSDS, Smart Serve, Health & Safety procedures, etc.
  • Assist and support Director Hospitality Operations and Executive Chef with all duties and responsibilities and any additional tasks as required

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years in the Food & Beverage industry
  • Minimum 2 years in the Food & Beverage industry in a management position
  • Smart Serve certification is required
  • Customer centric approach with a sincere, helpful, caring and friendly personality
  • Ability to positively influence other members of the F & B team by demonstrating proper work ethics, service standards, using coaching skills to effectively motivate staff thus improving guest service.
  • Comfortable making responsible decisions and develops recommendations for effective problem solving
  • Ability to take initiative within given guidelines
  • Pays precise attention to detail, order and cleanliness
  • High energy, flexibility and professionalism
  • Enjoys offering exceptional service and meeting the needs of others
  • Effective communication skills, proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change, modify and understand logistical challenges to ensure best guest experience and financial outcome
  • Possesses leadership and coaching skills is able to influence team members toward the F & B departmental goals
    • Ability to handle challenges in the workplace both with employees and guests
    • Must be flexible with their schedule, able to work long hours, shift work, evenings, weekends and holidays as business levels require
  • Able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, otherwise move objects
