Position Summary

The Lift Operators are responsible operating the alpine lifts in a safe and courteous manner. Working alone or in pairs, they need to ensure guests board, ride and disembark the lift according to safety standards. This includes successfully completing and passing a lift operations training session and exam, and applying what is learned consistently. Lift Operators ensure tools, loading and unloading areas, and lift huts are kept tidy and organized. They greet guests in a friendly manner and assist guests with any questions they may have. Just like all Horseshoe Resort Colleagues, Lift Operators are responsible for ensuring the health and safety of themselves, fellow colleagues and guests.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operator:

  • Ensure that guests board, ride and disembark the lift according to safety standards
  • Greet, acknowledge and assist guests in a courteous manner
  • Verify that guests have the appropriate lift tickets purchased for the lift
  • Engage with guests

Attendant:

  • Greet, acknowledge and assist guests in a courteous manner
  • Verify that guests have the appropriate lift tickets purchased for the lift
  • Engage with guests
  • Involved with line control at the lift
  • Will always be working with an operator who will be controlling the equipment

 

Qualifications:

  • Attendant minimum age: 14
  • Operator minimum age: 16
  • Ability to be on your feet for up to 8 hours, while standing outdoors in all weather conditions (cold, windy, snowing).
  • Be able to move up and down the stairs.
  • Be flexible with their schedule, working weekend shifts, some day and evening shifts.
  • Be able to twist, bend and reach while paying sustained attention to the operation of the lift and the movements of the guests.
