Role Overview:
The Shipping & Receiving Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations in the Shipping & Receiving department and processing customer invoicing. This role involves supervising a team of associates to ensure the accurate and timely receipt and shipment of goods, as well as communication with customers and drivers.
The supervisor will be responsible for maintaining efficient workflow, enforcing safety protocols, ensuring shipping & receiving accuracy.
What you’ll do (including, but not limited to):
- Supervise and lead a team of Shipping & Receiving Coordinators and Associates.
- Compile, copy, sort, and file records of office activities, business transactions, and other activities.
- Compute, record, and proofread data and other information, such as records or reports.
- Develop a solid understanding of warehouse and transportation operations and billings so as to understand the true nature of billing disputes.
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and record-keeping purposes.
- Provide assistance in answering the telephone, resolving distribution center problems, and providing backup to the warehouse.
- Ensure the accuracy of invoicing for the company and its customers.
• Ensure the completion of billing requirements to meet month-end deadlines. - Invoice customers based on predefined rate agreements.
- Assign daily tasks, monitor productivity, and ensure Associates meet performance and quality standards.
- Oversee the preparation of orders for shipment, including picking, packing, labeling, and ensuring timely dispatch.
- Ensure that shipping methods are cost-effective, accurate, and meet customer expectations.
- Coordinate with carriers and shipping vendors to schedule pickups and track deliveries.
- Monitor shipping documentation (e.g., bills of lading, packing lists, and invoices) to ensure compliance with company policies.
- Oversee the unloading of inbound shipments and verify received goods against purchase orders and delivery receipts.
- Ensure proper inspection of incoming goods for quality and damage.
- Coordinate the sorting, storage, and labeling of received inventory in the warehouse.
- Ensure all received items are recorded accurately in the inventory management system.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of orders to meet customer expectations.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve any shipping or receiving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform other duties as requested.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Diploma or degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or an other related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a warehouse or logistics environment
- 1+ years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory management, and safety protocols.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), transportation management systems (TMS), and inventory control software.
- Experience in Accounts Receivables/ billing in a warehouse or logistics setting.
- Intermediate to advanced computer software skills, including Excel and other accounting or billing systems.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
This is a temp to hire position
Monday to Friday 8am-4:30pm
$28/ hour plus 4% vacation pay to start
