STEGH Foundation was established 1986. Since this time, over $84 million has been invested into St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH). STEGH Foundation mobilizes, connects and stewards the community’s philanthropic investments by raising awareness, and supports health care excellence and state-of-the-art equipment, staff education and capital infrastructure technology focused on patient-centered care at STEGH.
To meet the needs of health care delivery today and into the future, STEGH Foundation continues to strategically plan to ensure our hospital’s healthcare teams have the equipment, facilities and resources necessary to respond to the needs of patients and their families so they can receive care close to home.
STEGH Foundation is currently in the quiet phase of the Transforming Tomorrow (Diagnostic Imaging Campaign), which is an $8 million fundraising campaign to support the purchase and installation of a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine and the enhancement and expansion of the entire Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Suite, making upgrades to the CT, nuclear medicine, x-ray and ultrasound facilities.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the President & CEO, the Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing internal and external communications and marketing strategies across various platforms including print, media, and online. The Marketing & Communications Specialist will work collaboratively with Foundation staff to increase the reach and impact of STEGH Foundation’s profile and visibility through delivering high-value and influential communications. The Marketing & Communications Specialist will also be responsible for evaluating communication and marketing plans for overall effectiveness to assist with developing a marketing budget for Foundation programs and initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Plan, organize, design and implement internal and external communications for the Foundation, including but not limited to press releases, proposals, newsletters, in-house publications, direct mail, annual reports, presentations, audio-visual materials, etc.
- Develop image-building stories that highlight the Foundations mission and brand focusing on the impact of donations on patient care through creative and professional marketing and public relations.
- Act as the first point of contact for STEGH Foundation and the President & CEO with regard to external communications such as providing support with presentations, media releases, etc.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for campaigns and overall communication strategies, focusing on metrics such as engagement, donor retention, and Campaign Return on Investment (ROI)
- Maintain close communication with Hospital administration and departments to stay informed about program and service developments supported by donor funding, and collaborate with hospital teams to align marketing and communication strategies with hospital priorities and initiatives
- Collaboratively coordinate the delivery of fundraising program promotion strategies including email, social posts, online ads, print communications and other appropriate marketing/communication mediums. Team support includes securing quotes, graphic design, print coordination, writing, editing, audience selection, and geographical reach, updating digital signage at the hospital and choosing the best mediums to deliver messages.
- Lead the development of marketing/communication budget and work within that budget each fiscal year while notifying the President & CEO of any emerging budget changes that will benefit the organization.
- Develop and monitor quarterly report of ROI on marketing and communication efforts.
- Develop comprehensive marketing strategy, creating regular content, design and marketing materials for a monthly 50/50 lottery.
- Act as a brand steward, upholding visual and written brand standards and ensure consistency in all marketing and communication pieces.
- Brief President & CEO on design, copy, image, and content needs for promotional and fundraising literature and activities.
- Maintain photo, video and print archive.
- Develop and execute crisis communication strategies to manage and protect the Foundation’s reputation during challenging situations.
- Develop a web strategy for the STEGH Foundation website. Develop processes to keep website up to date and operating efficiently.
- Proactively monitor digital trends and recommend innovative strategies to enhance the Foundation’s online presence and marketing effectiveness.
- Maintain and grow social networking presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.
- Develop, implement and evaluate social media strategy using consistent processes, templates and tools ensuring content reflects the diversity and inclusivity of the community we serve.
- Lead the planning, implementation, application review and testimonial collection for the Foundation’s Bursary Programs. Coordinate the number of bursaries available and testimonial collection of the Medical Student Bursaries in partnership with Medical Affairs.
- Promote and support third-party community events to ensure optimum outcomes on behalf of the Hospital and community.
- Engage and collaborate with volunteers to support marketing campaigns and share impactful stories that amplify the Foundation’s reach.
- With the President & CEO, establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations and businesses to support our mission.
QUALIFICATIONS & KEY COMPETENCIES:
- Post-secondary education – Degree or Diploma and/or equivalent work related experience in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or Public Relations.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience and demonstrated success in communications and marketing roles.
- Experience writing and designing content for a medium to large size organization. Ability to tailor messages to best connect with target audience and build brand equity.
- Experience working with Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Advertising, SEO and Digital Display Advertising.
- Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector considered an asset.
- Experience working with Raiser’s Edge consider an asset.
- Proficient in the use of all corporate productivity tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer and Outlook.
- Knowledge of Canva Pro and Adobe Creative Suite considered an asset.
- Knowledgeable of the latest digital tools and trends and proficient in developing, implementing and measuring effectiveness of an integrated online strategy through a variety of digital platforms.
- Ability to work independently using an above average level of initiative, highly organized; takes initiative/self-starter; detail-oriented;
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to work effectively on a variety of priority projects with competing deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.

The Marketing & Communications Specialist works 37.5 hours per week in a hospital office environment. Occasional work outside of regular office hours will be required during periods of peak activity and at special events. Work will require travel within Elgin County and London area.
