Industrial Mechanic / Millwright

Our company is a global plastic manufacturer located in Orangeville, ON. We are experiencing a growth in sales and demand in many areas of our business, and we are looking to recruit for the maintenance department.

The Industrial Mechanic position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve equipment failures
  • Perform periodic inspections of equipment and systems
  • Perform mechanical repair & maintenance activities throughout the plant on equipment and facilities.
  • Motors, hydraulics & pneumatic systems, bearings & gearboxes. Water heating and cooling systems.
  • Reading blueprints and schematics.
  • Equipment installations & rigging.
  • Welding & fabrication.
  • Utilize Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement to maximize equipment output and processes
  • Execute preventative maintenance activities, including: troubleshooting and repairs to all production equipment, hydraulic systems, and pumps in a timely manner
  • Utilize the computerized maintenance management system for processing work orders, PM’s, and updating the equipment databases
  • Support divisional and corporate objectives, including: health & safety, productivity, continuous improvement, innovation, quality, and waste

 

Qualifications

  • Certified Industrial Millwright 433A (Red Seal ticket)
  • 2+ years of work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Exceptional mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Energetic and enthusiastic approach with the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Knowledgeable of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • A strong safety focus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management software
  • Available and flexible to work in a fast paced environment, be self-driven to meet or exceed targets, and work a flexible schedule that includes planned, unplanned, and on-call shifts
  • Experience with electronics & PLCs. AC & DC motors and controls an asset.
  • Ability to operate specialized vehicles such as forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.
  • Able to negotiate inclines, stairs, and ladders
  • Able to perform physically demanding activities while working in all types of extreme hot environments, both indoors and outdoors. The job requires bending, kneeling, crawling, stooping, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Working in conditions may include exposure to noise, dust.
  • Ability to work extended hours when and where required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent communication skills.

 

Salary: 

  • $39.00/hour.
  • Additional shift premiums, call-in pay, and OT available.
