Maintenance Supervisor - Food Manufacturing

We are looking for a Maintenance Supervisor with a skilled trades license, preferably a dual ticket Industrial Millwright & Electrician. Experience in food manufacturing is an asset.

Located in North York, ON.

 

Job Duties

  • Manage and Supervise the maintenance staff, and ensure that all requisite tasks are handled quickly and efficiently in coordination with Maintenance Management
  • Periodic inspections of equipment, facility and systems to observe operating condition and need for repair or adjustments.
  • Plans and schedules corrective, predictive and preventive maintenance of equipment
  • Facilitate open and effective communications with other departments, ensuring optimal quality standards,
  • Supervise repairs/projects carried out by sub-contractors and ensure the quality of their work and their adherence to deadlines through follow-ups.
  • Enforce the company's current policies, procedures and the occupational health and safety program.
  • Maintain a positive employee/labour relations environment in support of cost-effective production of quality products by all plant workers.
  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Supervise regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities and assist when and where required.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain orderly work areas.
  • Involved in all aspects of building maintenance requirements for all new construction, renovations, or updates to current systems. 
  • Coordinate and monitor contractor activities for internal assigned projects.
  • Set priorities for preventative maintenance work orders, maintenance requisitions and scheduled work.
  • Complete all necessary reports and records related to the department.
  • Adhere to departmental procedures and systems, e.g., "systems for preventative maintenance", "maintenance requisitions", scheduled work and continued quality improvement/risk management programs.
  • Operate Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain various electrical components, appliances, and equipment in accordance with pertinent codes, the preventative maintenance program and departmental procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, install, and repair plumbing fixtures, piping, and related equipment.
  • Initiate safety concerns and make judgment on the best methods of completing tasks.
  • Responsible for short-term planning and keeping Management aware of decisions being made.
